Seven things Jesus said about Himself — and what they reveal about who He is
Introduction
Seven times in John's Gospel, Jesus finishes the sentence "I am" with something ordinary — bread, light, a door, a shepherd, life, a way, a vine. Read quickly, they sound like seven comforting pictures.
But the phrase carries more weight than that. It's the same self-declaration God gave Moses at the burning bush, and Jesus knew what He was claiming. These seven statements aren't separate promises to choose between — they're seven windows into one identity.
