Introduction

Malachi ends the Old Testament. Matthew opens the New. Between them sits roughly four hundred years with no new Scripture written — which is not the same as four hundred years where nothing happened.

Scripture

Daniel 8:23–25

A king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up... and he shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many.

Matthew 24:15

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Galatians 4:4

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son.

Translation note: Scripture quotations are from the King James Version (KJV). The King James Version is in the public domain.
