Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Biblical Theme
Faith
Faith is not the absence of doubt. It's trusting God enough to keep walking with Him before you can see what He's promised.
Introduction
What do you do when God has made you a promise, but nothing around you looks like it's coming true yet?
That's the exact question faith answers. Not a feeling of certainty, and not the absence of doubt — but a trust in who God is that's strong enough to keep you walking with Him before you can see the outcome. Scripture's most famous list of the faithful even includes people who doubted first.
Scripture
And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Translation note: Scripture quotations are from the King James Version (KJV). The King James Version is in the public domain.
