How to Know God's Will

What to actually do when you don't know what to do next — and why one imperfect decision can't undo God's plan for you

Introduction

Most advice about God's will stays abstract. The real question is smaller and more urgent: what do you actually do this week, with this decision, when you don't know what God wants?

Scripture gives more of an answer than it's usually given credit for — not a formula that removes uncertainty, but real tools for actual decisions, and a promise that one wrong turn can't derail what God is doing in you.

Scripture

Romans 12:2

Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

James 1:5

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Proverbs 3:5–6

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Translation note: Scripture quotations are from the King James Version (KJV). The King James Version is in the public domain.
